About › BasisToddlers, like effective adults, are active, driven, persistent and curious. Sudbury schools are designed to support these traits throughout childhood.
Growing up is hard work, and it's work that humans are built for. Internal motivation is an evolutionary reality.
Kids are adaptive. They can dumb themselves down when that's what's needed in school, while we see them rising to the occasion when they are trusted to create their own path to adulthood.

In the 1980s, schools started sprouting up modelled after Sudbury Valley, calling themselves Sudbury schools.
